SES were contracted to construct new retaining walls and structural foundations for the new sand storage facility at Lochaline sand mine. The works are part of a processing plant expansion programme, currently being undertaken at the mine.

Due to the sites remote location in the western Scottish highlands, all works had to be strategically planned to mitigate factors such as bad weather and long supplier haulage distances.

All reinforcing steel had to be cut and bent on site prior to fixing. Shutters we’re also built on site and installed by the SES site team. Concrete was laid and finished to the correct standard despite challenging and changeable weather conditions.

SES' Special Projects successfully completed the project on time and within budget, and to the satisfaction of the client.
