RACE (Rutherglen and Cambuslang Electrification)

Carillion approached SES Plant with a request for assistance on this project. They were installing stantions using a post manipulator which had been designed to lift round post sections, however, square sections were required on this project.

SES engineers assessed the problem and then approached Sandhurst with a re-design to the original post grab and in partnership with Kingshoffer, the machine manufacturer, modified the post manipulator.

After some trials Carillion approved the new design and SES Plant were awarded the job of installing the remaining 1800 posts which were installed successfully with no further issues.

As a result of this successful job the modified machine and manipulator were demonstrated at the Network Rail show.
