Part of SES, our Special Projects team is behind some of British mining's most impressive feats of specialist engineering. Mining has been at the heart of our business for over 30 years, and many of our fully-qualified Mining, Mechanical & Electrical Engineers have been with us from day one. When our Special Projects team acquired the respected mining divisions of Cementation and Thyssen (GB) in 2004, we added to our specialists' world-class reputation.

Today, SES' Special Projects provides tailored engineering services to the best of the UK's mining companies. With our roots in the coal mining sector we have successfully moved into other forms of mining offering a complete range of services to our other customers including Walter Energy, British Gypsum, Powerfuel Ltd, Joy Global and National Coal Mining Museums. We also continue to support the Coal Authority in maintaining and repairing its historic coal mining liabilities and attributes. 

SES is perfectly located geographically to offer our complete range of services to the prestigious York Potash project and we look forward to forging a successful partnership with the mine long into the future. Our abilities continue to be in demand internationally with projects including conveyor installations in challenging arctic conditions, for Norwegian coal miner Store Norske. 

Our Special Projects team has earned equally high acclaim through wide-ranging services for quarrying and other extractive sectors. Our mining team has constructed cross measure tunnels for Cleveland Potash and longwall systems for Euromangan in Bulgaria. We provide ongoing expertise as well as plant and materials supporting TATA Steel's extraction of groundwater from Santon Dragonby Mine used to feed steelworks on the surface.
